I am a huge believer in having a bag of tricks to keep your kids occupied so that you can be a more productive work at home mom. It can either be a box of toys or crafts that you keep up high and bring out when you need to get some work done or an activity that they can only do when you are on the phone. One of my favorite discoveries is a craft kit of the month and I would like to offer my?Kiwi Crate?review.
We?ve been subscribers to this service for a few months now. For a rate of $19.95 a month, you child will receive a themed craft kit once a month. It is addressed to them and comes with all the supplies that you need to complete three or more activities. I love that it has easy to follow instruction booklets for each activity that my daughter can follow along to.
Each activity is rated for it?s ability to be worked on either alone or with a parent helper. I also love that most crates come with craft supplies that can be used for later crafting. Last month?s crate came with fabric crayons and we only used a small portion of them. We will get to enjoy them for a long time.
Some of my tips for using Kiwi Crate are to intercept the mail so that you can pull it out at a time when you need it. Otherwise your child might want to dig right in and get crafting. You also may want to open it up first and break apart each activity.
The one drawback that I can find is that the crafts are geared to kids 3 to 7 years old. It would be nice if they had an option for both younger and older kids.
There is a sibling add on option for $7.95 so that each of your children can get their own craft. Plus their website has bonus ideas for adding to each theme. Which means more time for your kids to create while you get to work.
You can sign up for a monthly subscription or a yearly option. It is easy to cancel anytime and they also offer gift subscriptions, party favors and Halloween costume crates. Fun!
