Cancer sufferer needs rare bone marrow donation within six weeks to save her life

A mother with cancer has made a plea for a donation of rare bone marrow within six weeks to save her life.

Sharon Berger, 61, has acute myeloid leukaemia and a perfect match is more likely to come from the Jewish Ashkenazi community.

Her daughter Caroline, 31, said: ?Mum has been very brave but time is critical.?

Mrs Berger started chemotherapy this week and her family claim she has just weeks to find a match to save her life.

While a match is more likely to come from the Jewish community, friends of the 61-year-old are encouraging anyone who is aged between 16 and 30 to sign up to the stem cell register and provide a spit sample in order to have their tissue type analysed.
